Chief of Army, Royal Thai Army Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Chief of Army, Royal Thai Army (RTA), General (GEN) Pana Claewplodtook called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) earlier today. During the meeting, VADM Beng and GEN Pana reaffirmed the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Thailand, and discussed the deepening of defence cooperation between the Singapore Army and the RTA.

GEN Pana, who is on his introductory visit to Singapore from 22 to 24 April 2025, also met with Chief of Army Brigadier-General Cai Dexian after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. As part of his programme, GEN Pana visited SAFTI City, where he was briefed on its key features and how the Singapore Armed Forces has integrated advanced simulations and technology to create a realistic and effective urban training facility.

GEN Pana's visit underscores the strong defence ties between Singapore and Thailand. 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries. The Singapore Army and RTA interact regularly through high-level visits, professional exchanges, courses, and bilateral exercises such as Exercise Kocha Singa. These interactions have enhanced the professionalism and mutual understanding between the personnel of both armies.
